What I think about Salem, Oregon

Well in my opinion I hate Salem as a city. The people are okay depending on where you are. I have some friends in Salem and they all go to Corban College and I love them with all my heart. Some things I would change about Salem is more police patrolling and less hassling all the people who might be standing in one spot for to long. I also hate the fact that the police downtown around "North Block" on friday nights try to arrest a group including me and Corban students for standing on the sidewalks praying. If they were more concerned about dealing with drugs and other illegal activity then they would leave us alone!!! So that is just about all the bad and good things I can say about Salem, Oregon i would much rather be In Springfield, Oregon.

Child Abuse Awareness

Child abuse is a horrid yet rising ordeal. There is a report every five seconds and three kids die every day as a result of child abuse. Abuse does not always end after childhood it is also reported about teens. Most teens who have been abused usually have signs of depression, wanting to be alone, and one in three abused teens commit suicide. It is a growing epidemic which needs to stop. For almost every issue there is a solution the best would be to tell authorities although if your scared you can always call a hot line they are all free and can be confidential if you want it to. My choice would be the Boys and Girls Town national hotline which is 1-800-448-1833 or 448-3000; they are open 24 hours a day 365 days a year. It is a huge need to be taken care of if you have been abused and don't take care of it you could end up dead. I'm 100% sure that you would rather live if you could am I right?? Well there is always the solution of foster care or being adopted and that is a positive choice and more then most times it is the best. Even if you are not being abused, but you witness someone else being abused do what's right and talk to them. You might not be the ONE person someone would wish to talk to but you can always try. If all else fails then tell a teacher of your concerns and have them talk to the student or they could help connect them to someone who can help.

So please for my sake and any child or teen who you see being abused take the time to help them to the best of your ability.
