I would have to say that Martina McBride's Concrete Angel would be my choice as an impactfull song on communities. Primarily because it shows how child abuse can take a bad turn on someone's life and impact other people, friends, family, and even teachers. Which is why I chose it because every person knows at least one person who is or has been abused, and you just might not know it yet. If you have read my blog about child abuse you should know that it is something I take seriously, and I am doing all I can to make it stop because I have more than one friend who is or has been abused. trust me, I will do all I can to stop it. Listed below are the lyrics to the song Concrete Angle. Read closely, it even mentions a teacher wanting to help but does not speak up in fear for the little girl's life. So please, for me, do what you can do to help stop child abuse forever. Even if it's just calling the cops, doing something, anything, can help.
Lyrics for Concrete Angle
She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holdin' back
Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen and lace
The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask
Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel
Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late
[Repeat Chorus]
A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot
[Repeat Chorus]
